Position Overview

The Vice President of Compliance will lead the development, implementation, and oversight of the enterprise’s comprehensive compliance programs. This leader will serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, ensuring the organization not only meets but exceeds regulatory expectations while enabling business growth.

The role requires a strategic thinker with a strong foundation in financial services, fintech, or technology-driven organizations, combined with proven operational and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Compliance Leadership

  • Design and implement a comprehensive compliance strategy aligned with regulatory, legal, and ethical standards.

  • Advise the CEO, Board of Directors, and executive team on emerging compliance risks and opportunities.

  • Build policies and frameworks that scale as the company grows across multiple geographies.

Regulatory Oversight & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and international regulatory requirements (SEC, FINRA, GDPR, CCPA, etc.).

  • Oversee risk management strategies, compliance audits, and investigations.

  • Partner with legal teams to maintain proactive compliance with evolving industry standards.

Team Development & Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a compliance team across multiple functions, fostering a culture of accountability and transparency.

  • Provide ongoing training, awareness programs, and tools to ensure organization-wide compliance engagement.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with finance, operations, product, and IT teams to integrate compliance into decision-making.

  • Serve as a compliance advisor during new product launches, M&A activity, and international expansion.

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Establish compliance metrics, dashboards, and reporting processes for executive and board visibility.

  • Maintain open communication channels with regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, or Business (JD, MBA, or equivalent preferred).

  • 15+ years of compliance leadership experience, with at least 7+ years at an executive level.

  • Proven expertise in financial services, fintech, or technology sectors.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks (SEC, FINRA, SOX, GDPR, AML, OFAC, etc.).

  • Demonstrated success in scaling compliance programs within high-growth environments.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to influence board-level decision-making and guide cultural transformation.
