As Director of Research & Development, you will lead cutting-edge programs that drive scientific discovery into real-world solutions, while ensuring R&D excellence, compliance, and innovation at a global scale.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Strategic R&D Leadership: Direct the global research and development strategy, aligning with corporate priorities in healthcare innovation and market expansion.

  • Product & Technology Development: Oversee the design, testing, and validation of new medical products, devices, and digital health solutions.

  • Innovation Pipeline: Manage the full lifecycle of R&D projects, from concept to commercialization, ensuring alignment with scientific, regulatory, and market needs.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Clinical, Regulatory, Operations, and Commercial teams to accelerate product readiness and market entry.

  • Regulatory & Compliance Oversight: Ensure R&D processes meet global healthcare regulations (FDA, EMA, ISO, and other applicable standards).

  • Talent Leadership: Mentor and develop scientific teams, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and knowledge sharing.

  • Technology Integration: Champion the adoption of advanced technologies, including AI, machine learning, and data analytics in research processes.

  • Executive Reporting: Provide updates, findings, and investment recommendations to the CEO, Board of Directors, and key stakeholders.

Qualifications, Special Knowledge, Education, and Abilities

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in Research & Development, Biotechnology, or Life Sciences, with at least 7 years in executive or senior leadership roles.

  • Proven track record of bringing products from concept to market within healthcare, biotech, or pharmaceuticals.

  • Strong expertise in clinical trials, regulatory approval processes, and global compliance frameworks.

  • Experience managing large, complex R&D budgets and resource allocation across international teams.

  • Advanced degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or related field required; MBA preferred.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Demonstrated success in leading multidisciplinary, cross-cultural scientific teams in high-growth, complex environments.

Strategic Support

The Director of Research & Development is a key strategic partner to the CEO, Chief Scientific Officer, and executive committee, ensuring R&D investments directly contribute to long-term growth and competitive advantage. Responsibilities include:

  • Shaping the R&D roadmap to align with corporate strategy and market trends.

  • Advising executive leadership on capital allocation, partnerships, and M&A opportunities in research-driven innovation.

  • Partnering with global regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and speed-to-market.

  • Driving collaboration with universities, research institutions, and external partners to strengthen the innovation ecosystem.
